Getting to Mackay

Regular flights are available from all Australian capital cities connecting to Mackay daily, with Virgin Blue and Qantas. Jetstar operates regular connecting flights from Brisbane to Mackay. Tiger Airways flies direct to Mackay from Melbourne.

Selected Virgin Blue flights to/from Mackay connect with the boat transfer to/from Brampton Island.

A courtesy coach transfer is scheduled between Mackay Airport and Mackay Marina, duration is approximately 30 minutes. Mackay Marina is located at Mulherin Drive, Mackay Harbour, QLD 4740. The boat transfer between Mackay Marina and Brampton Island takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Bookings are made through Voyages.

The Blue Fin is an aluminium passenger catamaran, 16.48 metres in length, with a total seating capacity of 91 passengers, (56 passengers inside, and 35 outside) with a top speed of 20 knots.

The vessel has an interior air conditioned lounge, an upper viewing deck and a large rear area dedicated to luggage handling. There is a bar/café on board, offering refreshments.

The vessel was specifically designed for the Whitsunday's, with a high tunnel to smooth out the ride in choppy conditions. The vessel is suitable to operate 24 hours a day, enabling after dark cruising if required.

Air Transfer

Australasian Jet operate flights daily from Mackay to Voyages Brampton Island (transfer time: 20 minutes). Private charter flights between Hamilton Island and Brampton Island are available upon request. Bookings are made through Voyages. Minimum passenger numbers are required for all flights. Aircraft size ranges from 4 to 8 seat aircraft with Australasian Jet.

The check-in desk is next to the Brampton Launch desk at the main airport at Mackay - adjacent to the Virgin Blue baggage carousel. Check in time is 10 minutes before the flight.

Connecting times: when arriving to Mackay a minimum of 30 minutes connection between flights is required. When departing Mackay a minimum of 1 hour connection between flights is required.
