Getting to Mackay

Regular flights are available from all Australian capital cities connecting to Mackay daily, with Virgin Blue and Qantas. Jetstar operates regular connecting flights from Brisbane to Mackay. Tiger Airways flies direct to Mackay from Melbourne.

Selected Virgin Blue flights to/from Mackay connect with the boat transfer to/from Brampton Island.

Boat Transfer

Just 30 minutes from Mackay Airport, the ferry service linking Brampton to Mackay takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, and is a truly magnificent way to start your holiday.

The Blue Fin catamaran has been designed for the Whitsunday's passage, and offers guests an upper viewing deck, on-board refreshments and an air-conditioned lounge. From June through to the end of August, head to the viewing deck to spot migrating humpback whales and dolphins; if you're making the journey out of season, simply enjoy the view of the sparkling turquoise Whitsunday's waters, the coral reefs and the surrounding national park islands, their rocky headlands dotted with hoop pines, open grasslands and long sandy beaches.

The ferry service from Mackay to Brampton Island can be booked by the Voyages Travel Centre.

Please note the boat transfer times may vary due to weather conditions and can be cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.

Air Transfer

Australasian Jet operate flights daily from Mackay to Voyages Brampton Island (transfer time: 20 minutes). Private charter flights between Hamilton Island and Brampton Island are available upon request. Bookings are made through Voyages. Minimum passenger numbers are required for all flights. Aircraft size ranges from 4 to 8 seat aircraft with Australasian Jet.

The check-in desk is next to the Brampton Launch desk at the main airport at Mackay - adjacent to the Virgin Blue baggage carousel. Check in time is 10 minutes before the flight.

Connecting times: when arriving to Mackay a minimum of 30 minutes connection between flights is required. When departing Mackay a minimum of 1 hour connection between flights is required.

Note: Australasian Jet Private charter flights are available between Hamilton Island and Brampton Island upon request.

Baggage Allowance
Passengers are restricted to 20kg of luggage (15kg checked luggage, 5kg hand luggage). Please note soft-sided baggage is preferred.
