Brampton Island
Melaleuca Forest Experience
The Melaleuca Forest is a natural wonder of this area. This captivating two-hour tour begins with a boat ride to Carlisle Island. After disembarking, your guide will share some information about the history, biology and geology of the island. You'll also learn about the formation of continental islands and the associated volcanism that occurred before our last ice age.
While you wander through the forest, see how the canopy forms a natural roof overhead and feel the thick leaf litter under foot as you explore. The inhabitants of this special place are a sight to be seen too, from the thousands of migrating blue tiger butterflies flitting about from April to December, to the delicate green tree frogs on the hop from January to June.
Come and discover the ancient beauty of the Melaleuca Forest for yourself.
